TAP-Chicago Does Urban Farming!

Join TAP-Chicago as we get down and dirty at Chicago Lights Urban Farm, a 1-acre sustainable vegetable garden in the middle of our midwest concrete jungle.

Chicago Lights Urban Farm empowers youth and community residents in the Cabrini-Green neighborhood to have increased economic opportunities through access to organic produce and nutritional education while also providing a safe sanctuary for children and youth to learn about urban agriculture.

This is a FREE TAP-Chicago event, but Chicago Lights Urban Farm asks for a $10 cash donation per volunteer upon arrival to help support the farm. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early as orientation starts promptly at 10am.

Members who are on-time with a cash donation will automatically be entered into a drawing for gift certificates donated by various restaurants that support the farm:

Chilam Balam (owned by the former sous chef of Frontera Grill) –http://www.yelp.com/biz/chilam-balam-chicago-2

Closed-toe shoes are required. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and bring water, sunscreen, and gloves. Dress for harvesting, planting, weeding, picking, etc, and be sure to bring your own water bottle and lunch.

Street Parking: ample street parking and a parking facility at 600 W. Chicago
Public Transportation: Brown Line Franklin and Chicago stops
