Chinatown Dragon Boat Race for Literacy

Calling all aspiring paddlers! Join the TAP-Chicago dragon boat team as we take on other Chicagoland teams at the 2014 Dragon Boat Race for Literacy in Chinatown. After enjoying the race, we’ll get dim sum or lunch at a local restaurant.

Dragon boating with TAP-Chicago is great way to make new friends, get a workout, experience the thrill of competition, and thrive in a team environment. Chinatown 5K Supporting Project Vision

Run a 5K to build a better community! The Chicago Chinatown 5K & Youth Run is a fast course that runs through the heart of Chicago Chinatown. The Chinatown 5K partners with not-for-profit organizations to help raise funds for their various programs. This year, TAP-Chicago is running to support Project Vision and all net proceeds go to support this great cause.

TAP-Chicago is pleased to announce a 2 part workshop and discussion series featuring Ho Chie Tsai, one of the most influential and passionate contributors to the Taiwanese American community today. The workshops will focus on exploring our Taiwanese American identity, the challenges we face, and take a peek into the history of our Taiwanese American community and where it is headed.

Ho Chie Tsai is a founding Board Member of TaiwaneseAmerican.org but wears many hats in the Taiwanese American community. He is a frequent speaker at collegiate conferences and youth summer camp programs, a past Program Director and current Board Member of the Taiwanese American Foundation, and founder of the San Francisco chapter of Taiwanese American Professionals. Ho Chie hopes to inspire a renewed sense of pride in personal identity and increase activism and involvement within the greater Asian American community. Ho Chie holds an Electrical Engineering BS degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Bioengineering MS and an MD degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In his spare time, he works as a pediatrician.

Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival

Calling all aspiring paddlers! Join the TAP-Chicago Typhoon as we take on other Chicagoland teams at the 3rd Annual Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival at beautiful Lake Arlington. For spectators, in addition to thrilling racing, there will be Asian cultural performances, food trucks, and other vendors! And afterward, we can chow down on the finest ramen in Chicagoland at Misoya and Santouka.

Dragon boating with TAP-Chicago is great way to make new friends, get a workout, experience the thrill of competition, and thrive in a team environment. Paddling experience and athletic prowess are not required. It’s not too late to join the team, contact captains James or Emily!

Those who do not want to race are welcome to come cheer the team on!

Taiwanese Fun Fest

Join TAP-Chicago to experience a blast from the past as we experience the Taiwanese Fun Fest at the TECO Cultural Center in Westmont. Play your favorite games like chopstick egg carry and catch the goldfish and taste authentic Taiwanese treats like pork belly rice, squid soup, pork buns, bao bing, and noodles!

A great opportunity to check out TECO’s brand new Culture Center and maybe even make a stop at Ding Hao for Taiwanese groceries and food court.

Dragon Boat Team Info Session

The “Ultimate Team Sport”, dragon boat racing is the world’s fastest growing water sport. Dragon boating with TAP-Chicago is great way to make new friends, get a workout, experience the thrill of competition, and thrive in a team environment. Come learn more about it on May 21st!

Paddling experience and athletic prowess is not required. Team members will learn the proper paddle stroke techniques and learn to to paddle as a team in a synchronized fashion!
