Zongzi aka ba-zhang, is a traditional Taiwanese food, made with sticky rice stuffed with various fillings (sweet/salty) and wrapped in bamboo leaves. They are traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls in late-May to mid-June, to commemorate the death of the poet Qu Yuan.
Don’t worry if you don’t know how to make zongzi! We will have trained mentors to teach you the steps! All ingredients will be prepared beforehand, and will be ready for wrapping.
There are two kinds of zongzi we will be wrapping:
1) The meat zongzi – including fillings like braised pork, peanut, mushroom, and optional egg yolk
2) The sweet zongzi – including red bean paste
