TAP-Chicago Dragon Boat LAST Info Session
OUR LAST INFO SESSION is coming soon!
Last chance to meet fellow dragon boat folks and learn about dragon boat racing. Come join us this coming Thursday May 20th at 7:30pm.
The “Ultimate Team Sport”, dragon boat racing is the world’s fastest growing water sport. Dragon boating with TAP-Chicago is a great way to make new friends, get a workout, experience the thrill of competition, and thrive in a team environment. This is also a total body workout and it will help both girls and guys to get toned and fit!
Paddling experience and athletic prowess is not required. Team members will learn the proper paddle stroke techniques and learn to to paddle as a team in a synchronized fashion!

Chicago Cares Serve-A-Thon
Overview: Discover invites you to imagine a Chicago where everyone is rooting for each other. This June 25, Chicago Cares is gathering 5,000 Chicagoans to work toward that dream during Serve-a-thon, the city’s largest volunteer day.
We’ll work hard, play hard and give back, together. We’ll enhance schools and plant gardens. We’ll spruce up playgrounds and foster community. More than this, we’ll see all that’s possible when we roll up our sleeves together to transform our community.
Registration is waived under when registering under “Discover APAD” with the sponsor code 2016SPSAT. A free T-Shirt and a catered meal by Sweet Baby Ray’s after the event will also be provided to volunteers.
Date: Saturday, June 25, 2016
Location: Daley Plaza for our morning kick-off and afternoon celebration at 50 W. Washington; service projects at sites throughout the city in between
Schedule: 7:30 A.M. – 8:30 A.M. Check in at Daley Plaza, get your volunteer assignment and fuel up with some coffee and a continental breakfast.
8:30 A.M. Assignment in hand, board the bus for your project site. Get to work!
2:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. Wrap up your project and head back to Daley Plaza on the bus.
3:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. Worked hard? Time to play hard. We’ll celebrate in the plaza with a party featuring food, drink and live music.

The Anita Dee II is docked at Dusable Harbor on the Chicago River at Lake Shore Drive.
– If Driving: There will be Anita Dee signs at the foot of lower Randolph St. to enter the Dusable Harbor Public Parking Lot. This is a Public Pay Parking Lot (Do not park in the members lot).
– By Cab / Uber: Drop off at the foot of Randolph St., Columbia Yacht Club turn around. Take the path north towards Chicago river and end at Anita Dee II
– By Public Transportation: any L train that stops in the loop (closest stop is State/Lake or Randolph/Wabash), and then it’s a 15-20 min walk via the Chicago Riverwalk (stay on the south side of the river)

Kollaboration Chicago: Return of the Stars
Kollaboration Chicago is proud to announce its first Return of the Stars showcase on Saturday, May 14th at the Dave n Busters Show Room at 1030 N Clark Street from 3:30-6:00pm (show starts at 4:00pm)!
TAP- Chicago is proud to support Kollaboration. TAP-Chicago’s President Grant Wu and Vice President Hauwei Lien will be the guest judges.
Return of the Stars welcomes Kollaboration Chicago alum as they compete for a cash prize and bragging rights at the end of the night! Join us for a night of amazing music and entertainment as we celebrate our inaugural Return of the Stars showcase. Performers will include 2015 Kollaboration Chicago Winner Dhaea, 2014 Winner Paul Kay, 2014 Finalist Flashburn Beatbox, 2013 Winner Alvin Lau, 2013 Finalists Ashlee Barrera & Alan, and 2013 Finalist Brian Choi of Two Bored Dorks.

St. James Food Pantry Volunteer Event

St. James Food Pantry has been in existence since 1972 when Sr. Carlotta Oberzut, RSM, a teacher in the parish school, formed a food distribution program as a means of assisting needy school families.
For many years St. James Food Pantry has been a beacon of hope for families and individuals living in near-by public housing and the elderly living in several of the Chicago Housing Authority Senior Buildings.
