TAP – Fall Apple & Pumpkin Picking

Join TAP-Chicago as we embark on a fun and adventurous trip of apple & pumpkin picking + corn maze (one of this year’s theme is World Series Champion Maze)! Carpool will be arranged for attendees. Volunteer drivers will also be appreciated.

Ticket details: $12 pass including General admissions for apple & pumpkin picking, corn maze, and tractor rides.

CORN MAZE: This year has 3 themes: World Series Champion Maze, Albanese Maze, and Culver’s Maze. Admission is included in the ticket price

APPLE PICKING: Nothing beats the crisp, sweet taste of an apple picked at its peak ripeness. General admission is included in the ticket and additional $1.79/lb of apples you picked.

PUMPKIN PICKING: Perfect place for a photo op and find your favorite pumpkin. General admission is included in the ticket and additional $0.40/lb of the pumpkins you picked.

SUNFLOWERS PICKING: Did I mention there is a sunflower field as well?! General admission is included in the ticket and additional $2 for a small bunch/large sunflower.

TAP-Chicago: Mock Interview Workshop and Networking

A job interview does not have to be daunting once you know what to expect. Join TAP-Chicago for a free mock interview session with experienced professionals from a variety of fields including accounting, computer science, law, and marketing. Give yourself the opportunity to interview with an experienced professional from your intended career who can provide you with insider knowledge of what to expect and how to best present yourself for your ideal job.

Interviewers and interviewees will be paired up according to the background and interest. The event will be two-fold: first, recruiters will help interviewees prepare for the mock interview and then the interviewers will conduct the mock interview. After the mock interview session, there will be a networking session for everyone at the event.

We encourage you to register soon as space is limited. Mock interviews will be scheduled based on availability, first-come, first serve basis.

2nd Annual Asian American Kickball Tournament

Kickball picAnyone else bummed that summer is over? Well so are we, and we’re here to hold on to it for as long as we can! Join the Typhoon dragon boat team and local Asian American organizations including AACN, CMAA, KACC, TAP-Chicago, and TJCCC for a fun kickball tournament!
If you’re the competitive type, you have the chance to enjoy 1st place glory. If you are not, no problem. BBQ, beer, wine, and snacks will be provided. Come out and enjoy the day with fun company!

Teams are coed and the standard team is 10 with a minimum of 4 female players.**

When: Sunday, Oct. 1st, 12pm to 4pm (may be earlier depending when the games finish)

Where: Lincoln Park, Waveland Softball diamonds 1 & 4

Cost: $25 per player early bird, $30 general admission, signup via Eventbrite

Join TAP-Chicago’s Community Service team for a rewarding afternoon by volunteering with The Greater Chicago Food Depository!  GCFD is a non-profit organization that helps to end hunger in Chicago and surrounding areas by distributing food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.  You will be helping this cause by repacking donated food and other products (which come in bulk quantities) into smaller sizes.  Once this is done, they are ready to be loaded to their trucks for distribution.

Registration Required: The Greater Chicago Food Depository (All volunteers must register to participate) (New/First time volunteers account creation required)

Parking:  The parking lot is open to volunteers during Saturday sessions.  There are additional parking on either Karlov or Keeler – the streets east and west of their building.  They are meter-free and Karlov (the street east of them) usually has closer parking spaces.

Dress code: Long pants, covered shoulders, and enclosed shoes are required to work in the warehouse.

TAP-Chicago & KACC Present: An Inside Look at the CIA

CIA-slideAn exclusive program by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for business professionals of all backgrounds. Attendees will learn what the Asian American experience is like in a not-so-well-known organization. Hear first-hand perspectives from a panel of Asian American CIA officers representing careers in Operations, Analysis, and Technology. Each panelist will share the experiences of his or her journey to and through the CIA in a thoughtful and entertaining fashion.

Learn about what the CIA is responsible for today and how it accomplishes its mission with the assistance of Asian Americans as well as the variety of internships and career opportunities for Asian Americans within the intelligence community.

After the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to network and foster valuable connections with members of the CIA as well as other professionals in the Chicago area. Attendees will enjoy complimentary heavy appetizers and a cash bar.

TAP-Chicago Volunteering at Breakthrough Fresh Market

Join TAP-Chicago’s Community Service team as we strive to make a difference in the community. We will be volunteering with Breakthrough’s Fresh Market. Fresh Market is eliminating hunger and transforming neighborhoods in East Garfield Park by providing a sense of dignity, community and hope. Come be a part of this effort by serving at the indoor Fresh Market which provides fresh food, groceries, and supplies to low-income families!

Instead of receiving a bag of canned goods, guests are paired with a personal shopper and are guided through the shopping area to find fresh ingredients to create meals for their families. Residents also receive access to legal aid, food stamps, housing and employment information, financial management, GED certification and family workshops. You may be asked to fill one of these volunteer roles: Greeters, Computer Registration, Hospitality, Personal Shopping Assistant, Stockers, Set-up and Tear-down.
