NEPAL NOW Fundraiser
Join Chicago Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP- Chicago) for a professional networking fundraiser for Nepal in conjunction with Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month hosted by our friends at MillerCoors and Chinese Mutual Aid Association.
The fundraiser will raise money for Nepal relief & rebuilding efforts after two earthquakes claimed over 8,500 lives, displaced thousands of Nepalese people & destroyed Nepal’s infrastructure including schools & hospitals.
In addition to raising money for Nepal, the event will also be a professional networking opportunity in conjunction with Asian & Pacific Islander American Heritage Month at MillerCoors’ downtown Chicago corporate office. We hope you can join us for MillerCoors products, hors d’oeuvres and amazing Chicago city views.
Due to limited capacity and so we can provide your name to building security, you must RSVP in advance here. Attendees must be 21 or older to attend.
Twenty dollars ($20) is the requested minimum donation to attend the fundraiser and online donations are being collected through the American Red Cross’ Crowdrise page https://www.crowdrise.com/helpcmaahelpnepal/fundraiser/cmaa
Please select the last option for Nepal earthquake relief where 100% of your donation goes directly to the American Red Cross for their work in Nepal.
CMAA, a 501(c)(3) pan-Asian social services non-profit with Nepali employees, serves local Chicagoland Nepalese people as well as people from all ethnic backgrounds & generations through CMAA’s various agency services. As this tragedy has personally touched the CMAA family, we hope you can join us and make a donation whether or not you can attend the Thursday, May 28th event.

Good Men, Good Women Film Screening
Join TAP-Chicago next weekend for a screening of Good Men, Good Women 好男好女 directed by Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien 侯孝賢. We are also offering tickets at a discounted $7.
TICKETS
Discounted rate of $7. Just mention the promo code “TAIPEI” person at the box office when purchasing tickets.
ABOUT THE FILM
Exploring a recurrent theme, Hou shifts between the past and present in his contemplation of the individual’s place in history. Liang Ching, an actress preparing for a period-film role in which she plays an anti-Japanese guerrilla, is stalked by a man who has stolen her diary. As film rehearsals progress, Liang Ching’s thoughts on the role merge with the recollection of her own recent past as a bar girl and consort of a local gangster. The sequences in the Forties, richly but starkly filmed in black-and-white, contrast sharply with the colorful crassness of those in the present. In Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, and Japanese with English subtitles.
